Background
There are many mobile web browsers are available currently to access the
internet. Under this section, the features found in the other mobile web
browsers are described. Further the drawbacks of the other mobile web browser
systems are also analyzed.
Opera
Opera one of the popular mobile web browsers, has many features like. Full html
internet access, html 5 support Adobe flash support and lots of other features.
Firefox
Firefox Browser also have all the latest facilities. Some of them are advanced
security, location awareness, cutting edge technology, multi tabbed browsing and
many more.
Dolphin HD
One of the popular mobile web browser in Android market. It got some unique
features like Smart gesture, Sonar(Voice recognition),many add-ons, tabbed
browsers, HD facility and many more.
Google Chrome
Search fast-Search and navigate fast, directly from the same box. Choose from
results that appear as you type. Browse faster with accelerated page loading,
scrolling and zooming. Simple, intuitive experience - Open and quickly switch
between an unlimited number of tabs. On your phone, flip through tabs the way
you would fan a deck of cards. On your tablet, swipe from edge to edge to switch
tabs. Sign in - Sign in to Chrome to sync your open tabs, bookmarks, and Omni
box data from your computer to your phone or tablet. Pick up right where you
left off. - Send pages from Chrome on your computer to Chrome on your phone or
tablet with one click and read them on the go, even when you’re offline.
But still none of them got the feature of text to voice and voice to text
feature.
Research Gap
So as you have seen above, many different web browsers available for smart
phones with many features. So the gap this project is trying to cover is the
Voice to Text and Text to Voice which is not available on any web browser
together. And also especially the text to voice, in other word the web site
reading function is not available in any web browser. So by implementing these
features in this project we are expecting to save the time of the user for
reading the web page and typing to search in google.
So with voice commands and reading features we can provide the user some
easiness.
Research Questions
The main problem addressed by this research project is mobile browsers face some
difficulties when downloading some files. for example while downloading some
files through mobile browsers if the internet connection get disconnected, the
download will stop & when it's get the connection again it'll start the download
from the starting point.It will not start the download from the point it
stopped. To avoid these kind of problem our research team is going to implement
a feature. It is called Resume Download. This feature will be the correct
solution for this problem. When we are downloading some files if the internet
connection gets disconnected, the download will pause and at the same time when
it gets the internet connection again it will not start from the starting point,
it will start from where it has stopped earlier. This is the main function of
this feature.
Our research team identified some other problems too, those are, mobile web
browser users finding it difficult to type words in mobile web browser, finding
difficulties to read the words which contains in mobile web browser. To avoid
these kind of problem our research team aim to do Voice to Text and Text to
Voice mobile features. Those who feel lazy, drive vehicle and Vision Impaired
people if they feel hard to type words through mobile web browser Voice to Text
option will be the solution for the problem. And the user can do multiple task
with text to speech, that means he can hear the web browser reading the web page
for him while he do other stuffs. Also designing and adding features to support
the vision impaired people, like a big dictate button and voice direction so
that it says to the user where the user is and what action he is doing and voice
activating all functions in the web browser. But this Research Question will be
covered in future, some of them are covered here although this research is out
of the boundary line of our current research.
Above figure describes the overview diagram for the voice activated mobile web browser. Three main features will be implemented in the web browser which are Speech to Text, Text to Speech and Resume capable downloading
.
The Speech to Text feature is intended to recognize certain words of the human
voice and instruct the web browse to carry out the pre-defined tasks which is
assigned for that recognized word.
The Text to Speech feature is intended to read out a web page which is currently
loaded to the web browser to the user. The browser will identify the relevant
part of the web page which has the necessary information and read it to the
mobile phone user.
The Resume downloading feature is intended to make downloading files more
convenient for the mobile phone user. There is a great possibility that when
downloading a file, the download may fail due to some reason. The resume
downloading feature will be tracking down the currently downloading files. If
the download stops due to some reason, the download manager will be able to
resume the download from where it has stopped.
